Our Story

Hi, I'm Kat

I'm a mum of two, and Pokapoka started on our kitchen floor.

When my daughter first started crawling, her socks wouldn't stay on. I'd find them scattered all over the house, and the ones that did stay on had no grip at all, so she'd slide around on our tiles instead of pushing herself forward.

So I went looking for something better: socks that actually stayed on, properly gripped the floor, and were cute enough that I wanted to put them on her. Finding all three was much harder than it should have been.

Now I'm on maternity leave with my second, and Pokapoka is my little project to bring the grip socks we love to Aussie families. I choose every design myself, and every order is checked and packed by hand in Sydney.

Why "Pokapoka"?

In Japanese, poka poka (ぽかぽか) is the feeling of warmth: the sunny spot by the window, a cosy blanket, little feet that are finally toasty. That's the feeling I want everything we sell to bring.

Grip socks are where we're starting. Warm, simple, joyful things for little ones are where we're going.

Thank you for being here at the very start.
